Integrating applications means information can move automatically from one system to another, without the need to manually retype anything. In an IVF setting, this is especially important. When systems like your EMR and Matcher are connected, it helps prevent errors that can happen when copying patient names or IDs manually. It’s a simple way to improve accuracy, save time, and support safer working practices in the lab.
Integration using an API – Application Programming Interface
An API (Application Programming Interface) is a simple, modern way for two systems to talk to each other and share data. It works a bit like a website, but instead of being used by people, it’s designed for software to send and receive information automatically.
Because APIs use standard web technologies, they’re quick to set up and easy to maintain. There’s no need for complex networking, special firewall rules, or fragile database connections. It’s a straightforward and reliable way to connect systems without adding extra work for your IT team.
One of the biggest benefits of using an API is that it helps eliminate double entry. When systems are connected through an API, patient demographic information can flow automatically from one platform to another. This saves time and reduces the risk of errors. APIs also support real-time data sharing, so everything stays up to date across your systems.
Another key advantage is that APIs are actively maintained by developers, which means they are built to last. Unlike older integration methods that can break easily when something changes, APIs are designed to be robust and future-proof.
For IVF clinics, using API integrations means faster workflows, fewer mistakes, less admin, and more time to focus on what matters most: your patients.
Examples of how Matcher integrates with an EMR using in API:
- An EMR can automatically send new or updated patients into Matcher
- An EMR can send a patient cycle from your EMR and have Matcher automatically populate a full cycle plan for the patient cycle.
- Matcher can send details of completed witnessed procedures to EMR API (customisation required)
- Using Matcher to search for a patient number in a connected EMR API and import the details directly from that database into Matcher
Integration Partners
Matcher integrates with all EMR systems and custom systems hosted on databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Filemaker etc.
We already have integrations with 25+ EMRs, but we can work with any others and are open to collaboration and cooperation to ensure the best solution for our customers.
